Anti-Corruption Crackdown: ACE Seizes Millions in Assets from Sialkot ADCR
In a bold move against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Lahore has seized assets worth millions of rupees from Muhammad Iqbal, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) in Sialkot. This high-profile case has sent shockwaves through the region, highlighting the ongoing battle against misuse of power and bribery in Pakistan.
The ACE operation uncovered a range of luxury items and illicit funds linked to Iqbal. Among the seized assets are a Land Cruiser, a high-end Rolex watch, cash amounting to Rs6.825 million, and ownership documents for two commercial plots. Additionally, authorities recovered Rs49.15 million suspected to be tied to corrupt practices. These recoveries paint a troubling picture of alleged bribery and abuse of authority by a senior government official.
Following Iqbal’s arrest on August 1, 2025, under Sections 161 and 162 of the Pakistan Penal Code, a local court granted a four-day extension of his physical remand to allow further investigation. The ACE continues to probe the case, aiming to trace additional assets and uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption.
This case underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in public office. As the investigation unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the critical role anti-corruption agencies play in upholding justice and protecting public resources.
